Derry City & Strabane District Council listed the Templemore Sports Complex project on the public procurement website, eTendersNI. The project called for the demolition of the existing self-standing windshield and the installation of a new support structure and flue to serve 2 condensing boilers.

John J Doyle Ltd was awarded the project to design, supply and install the new system.

The Council gave John J Doyle Ltd the opportunity to have an influence on the design, opting for a structure with two Dinak modular flue systems. A structure was recommended as it provided a cost-effective and aesthetically pleasing solution.  John J Doyle Ltd offered the Council the opportunity to choose a RAL colour for the structure. AutoCAD drawings and calculations were carried out in-house to ensure compliance with European standards and the Clean Air Act.

Once the Council agreed to the design, the demolition was completed including the removal of the existing horizontal flues connecting the boilers to the chimney.

After demolition, the new holding down bolts were chemically fixed to match the base of the new support structure. Then the support structure arrived in one piece to minimise time on-site and work at heights. The support structure and flue were lifted from the lorry and lowered onto the holding down bolts. The top two sections were then installed.

Once the external chimney was completed, the horizontal flue runs were installed with a 3° fall and were connected to the tee at the base of the vertical.

All chimney and flue products were supplied and installed CE Marked and compliant with European and regional standards.
